The cashew grows under a fruit called the cashew apple. The nut is harvested and expertly separated from the apple by hand, dried under the sun for several days and then cooled under the trees, before being shelled and packaged. The cultivation of these labour-intensive nuts has allowed entire farming communities to thrive, thanks to the supplierās sustainable trade practices and above-average wages.
These nutrient-dense nuts have great health benefits: they support healthy bones due to their magnesium and vitamin K content.
Contrary to popular belief, theyāre not the highest-fat nut. The fats they do contain are mostly mono-and polyunsaturated heart-healthy fats, which are considered healthy fats.
